The purification cycle begins with the treatment of liquid sludge (with a concentration of 0.5% to 5% dry matter). Progressive cavity pumps (PCP) efficiently transfer abrasive sludge fluids from primary to secondary sedimentation, or to dehydration systems.


To start the dehydration process, liquid sludge is treated to reduce its water content. The fluid viscosity increases and can contain up to 10% solid content. A pump (PCP) with a hopper is often necessary to transfer these fluids, with an Archimedes screw depending on the solid concentration and risk of settling.


The final step in the dehydration process before storage or drying, dehydrated sludge becomes very viscous and sticky, containing up to 45% solid content. A pump (PCP) equipped with a hopper and an Archimedes screw is essential for their transfer.


Polymer is used to help sludge adhere to each other and facilitate their treatment. Progressive cavity pumps (PCP) or peristaltic pumps are used to ensure precise dosing and fluid integrity.


Liquid or solid, it helps neutralize sludge. For low flow rates, peristaltic pumps are preferred, while for high flow rates, it is recommended to use eccentric screw pumps, with special elastomers and low rotational speed to promote resistance to abrasiveness due to lime milk.
