A rod-driven PCP system installed in deviated/horizontal wells must be designed to handle the interaction between the rod string and tubing that can cause the following failures;
- High rod torsional loading
- High contact loads (tubing & rod wear)
- Rod string fatigue
PCM was selected to participate in a 3-years DST exploration campaign and provide artificial lift solutions for challenging well conditions.
Each of the 5 well zones was tested for approximately 80 hours. The successful results obtained led the client to use PCM PCPs in the field for production.
How to improve PCP run life in multiphase conditions
Deployment of PCM Moineau™ HR PCP Technology in a gassy, heavy to extra heavy oil field with recurrent Artificial Lift System failures. Six wells with conventional PCPs, Sucker Rod Pumps and declining natural flow were converted to PCM Moineau™ HR.
Today, thanks to the successful test of the PCM Moineau™ HR, it is widely used by the operator as an alternative for wells with high GVF (Gas Void Fraction) at the pump.
Progressing Cavity Pumps are most common for artificial lift mode of heavy oil, viscous & abrasive fluids. PCM was the pioneer to bring PCP to light Oil market thanks to unmatched elastomers.
The key to achieving maximum efficiency of the pump depends on the rotor and stator fit, to control the internal pump leakage and the selection of an appropriate elastomer to handle the aromatics, H2S and C02 found in light crude.
SAGD method was selected by an international operator to enhance oil recovery of this Canadian field
4 PCM All Metal PCPs dedicated to high temperature and 4 High-Temp ESPs were evaluated.
All-metal PCP SAGD pilot in Canada
JOSLYN: Field (Pilot) development in thermal enhanced oil recovery.
First field pilot using PCP for SAGD production (Steam assisted Oil Gravity).
Successful trial conducting on 11 of 12 Wells equipped with AMPCP technology
Runlife of 1617 days achieved for a PCM Vulcain™ 220V1000 installed in a Steam Flood Field in the Middle East.
A PCM Vulcain™ package was installed on March 1st 2011, including an all metal progressing cavity pump 220V1000, a high temperature sealing system at surface and a high temperature blow out preventer.
The Client has implemented an aggressive drilling and development program, including a major pattern steam flood project for enhanced oil recovery. The 2010 exit rate of gross daily oil production at the field was nearly 120,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The Client plans to steadily increase production through continued expansion of the steam flood project.
